Establishing Food Service Operations to Provide
Exceptional Quality of Products and Services to Our Customers

Bishamon Group, founded by Takaaki Kohyama, currently operates 15 individual establishments throughout the Los Angeles area, as well as overseas. In 1993, he launched his very first restaurant, Bishamon, in Covina, California.

Among the Five Confucian Virtues, including Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, Wisdom and Sincerity, Takaaki has always held Righteousness in the highest regard. Kenshin Uesugi, considered to be one of the most powerful Feudal Lords in Japanese history, also valued Righteousness the most.

Takaaki’s idea of naming his very first establishment “Bishamon” was inspired by the historical account that Uesugi was believed to be the embodiment of Bishamonten, Buddhist God of War.

Righteousness represents strength and goodness in heart, which also embraces weakness and tenderness. The sprit of Righteousness allows Takaaki to understand the various needs in every customer.

In this ethnically and culturally diverse country, Takaaki strives to promote the profoundness of Japanese cuisine and culture to everyone.

With the cooperation of “Kikusui Syuzou”, one of the most prestigious Sake Breweries in Japan, Takaaki Kohyama, Founder of Bishamon Group, poured his heart and soul into developing a truly unique Sake experience. Indulge yourself with a cup of meticulously crafted sake. The aftertaste will be absolutely refreshing.
